Worldstudio’s initiative Design Ignites Change was honored with a MAKINGOODESIGN Award which recognizes organizations in New York City that design for social impact. The awards were celebrated at the 2nd annual Good-Maker Party on May 20th. The award recipients represented public art, design, and community revitalization efforts across the city including: The Center for Urban Pedagogy, Design Trust for Public Space, The Alpha Workshops and No Longer Empty. Nearly 200 attendees joined the party at the beautiful Teknion showroom in Chelsea. In attendance were professional and student designers, architects, illustrators, artists and community activists– all joined by a passion for making good happen.
We were excited to be in the company of such inspiring organizations dedicated to creating change, and to individuals interested in becoming involved in social impact design. We would like to thank Emerging New York Architects Committee of the American Institute of Architects and Design With Benefits for this honor and for promoting the growing field of design for social impact.
